Justin Castillo & Elaine Budsberg Scholarships for College Bound Graduating High School Seniors

 

 

Bear Creek Soccer Club (BCSC) will award, on an annual one-time basis, two $500 college scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The Justin Castillo Scholarship is awarded in memory of Justin Castillo, the founding President of the BCSC. The Elaine Budsberg Scholarship is presented in memory of Elaine Budsberg, a former longtime member of the BCSC Board of Directors.

 

Eligibility

 

All graduating high school seniors who are current or former BCSC players are eligible to apply for either scholarship.

 

Application

 

  • A written application or resume must be submitted to the BCSC Board of Directors by the May 15, 2003. The award recipients will be notified by the end of May. The application must be mailed to:

  • The application must include the following information:

  1. Applicant's name, address, and telephone number

  2. Applicant's parent's names

  3. BCSC experience (player, coach, referee, etc..)

  4. Other soccer experience (other clubs, high school, etc..)

  5. Soccer awards (include verification from coach, official, written document, or published clipping)

  6. Academic standing in graduating class, grade point average, academic achievements, and transcripts are required (must be verified by school officials)

  7. Schools attended (elementary through high school)

  8. Community activities (verified by in-charge adult)

  9. Hobbies and other interests

  10. Intended college and field of study

  11. A brief statement of why the candidate believes they are candidates for this scholarship awards

  12. A minimum of three references, including a coach, an educator, and a community leader

 

The scholarships are one-time grants that are provided directly to the college or university for use towards the recipient's tuition and fees (the check is sent from BCSC to the school). The scholarships are awarded to candidates who demonstrate all-around interest, including substantial performances in school, community, and sports activities.
